Bradenton’s First Ever Half Marathon!
Introducing the Hernando DeSoto Historical Society’s inaugural Bradenton-Area Half Marathon and Conquistador 1 Mile Fun Run, slated for Oct. 15, 2016. The Bradenton Runners Club (BRC) is partnering with the historical society for the event.
The signature event, which is also part of the 2016 BRC Racing Series, will also feature live music, cheerleaders, DJs, mascots, floats and more. The half-marathon kicks off at 6:30 a.m. in downtown Bradenton and proceeds to Manatee Avenue and the Green Bridge challenge; run over the mile-wide Manatee River, through historic Palmetto then back over the bridge. Continue along Bradenton’s main thoroughfare before turning onto Riverview Boulevard with a few more turns until the finish downtown just before the opening of the Farmer’s Market on Old Main Street.
Half marathon runners will receive a Finisher’s Medal, Tech Shirt and access to the Beer Garden (21 and over). Conquistador 1 Mile Fun Run will receive a Finisher’s Medal and a Conquistador Helmet. Plaques will be available for purchase on race day so you can transform your medal into something you can proudly display. Organizers say post-race hospitality will be top notch, complete with massages, craft beer and recovery fuel.
The money raised by the Bradenton-Area Half Marathon will support student scholarships and local charitable organizations.
